Crosley Tower is a very interesting piece of architecture. After years of use, the building has started being decommissioned. I first set foot in the building in Summer of 2023. My boyfriend, his brother, and I would go around all the floors and see what they had to offer and how much would change over time. As time went on, the building grew even closer to all of our hearts. I dedicate this piece to our time shared in that space. I know the building is set to be torn down and replaced in 2026, but I felt it was my duty to help immortalize the feelings it provoked and tell the many stories of the adventures I had in there.
The piece is made up of 6 movements all with titles that fit into my experiences. The movements never exceed 2 minutes because the time I spent in the tower only ever felt short and I hope listeners get the same feeling I did, that I wish I could spend more time in that space.
The overall structure of the piece is all over the place and employs many different techniques that make the eerie vibe apparent to the audience. The whole piece just fades away at the end to symbolize Crosley Tower fading from view as it gets torn down.
Note to performers:
Please take great care to follow ALL techniques. If not possible, please make a good, educated guess as to what you should do technique wise instead.
Thank you and please enjoy one of my favorite pieces, the Crosley Quartets!
